[Personal Review] Fight for My Way

Hi there! So, this review is long overdue, I know. My apologies for that. It’s just that I had a lot going on with my life. Regarding this drama, I didn’t see it when it was airing but I did see the clips that KBS were uploading to their channel so I am giving myself spoilers lol. I am updated regarding Seo Joon’s dramas so I did know that this was going to air but I just didn’t go through the trouble of watching it at that time. I do have to warn you that this drama review will include A LOT of fangirling. I am serious when I say A LOT … please bear with me.

Cast: This cast is the best. I swear to all that is amazing, this cast was one of a kind. I wish they could work together again someday. Park Seo Joon as Ko Dong Man; MY BABY, oh my precious baby Seo Joon. I saw him Dream High 2, 6 years ago but I didn’t really love the drama in particular but I did notice him. It wasn’t until in Running Man in 2014 that I got hit. The episode that made me go gaga was episode 198, and that’s the couple race where he was partnered with Song Ji Hyo where they did the game with the radish and then the rest was history. Going back, Dong Man is your funny, loyal and charismatic boy next door and he’s also a bit of a catch so his portrayal in this drama is really amazing, he really does fit in the romantic comedy category because he can be really funny but he can cry a river if he can. The reason I like him is that he’s very versatile as an actor, I’ve seen him in Hwarang and he may not look that great in traditional clothing but he can portray his character really well. Kim Ji Won as Choi Ae Ra; This woman gave a great performance as Myeong Ju in Descendants so I was excited when I found out that she’s going to star opposite Seo Joon. Ae Ra’s character was the usual character nowadays, old is the weak and timid women of Kdrama. Leads now are strong, independent women who sometimes… need the tender loving care of men (LOL). Her portrayal of this character is very spot on, we did see her being that tough cookie in Descendants but here she’s just as amazing and we get to see her cute side too. Ahn Jae Hong as Kim Joo Man; First time I’m seeing him in this drama so I don’t really have a basis but I did some research and saw that he was in Reply 1988 and a ton of movies. Surprisingly, I haven’t seen any of his works so I  don’t have any basis at all. However, seeing how he is in this drama, I may have to watch his works. He is unbelievable, his acting is soo good and how he plays the character of Joo Man is spot on. Song Ha Yoon as Baek Seol Hee; Realizing that her name doesn’t ring a bell, I had to do some research. She was in a couple of dramas and movies like “Baby and I” and “Innocent Steps” but I don’t remember seeing her in them because it’s been a while plus I have the worst memory. I like how she is in this drama and she doesn’t look like her age, to be honest. She looks 10 years younger in this drama and she is so good at acting. She plays one of the most difficult characters, in my opinion, and she did an amazing job.

Story: This story is following the lives of our four leads and their adventures. Dong Man is a former taekwondo champion and Joo Man’s best friend and Ae Ra is an aspiring announcer and Seol Hee’s best friend. After high school, it seems that our leads’ lives are very different from what they have envisioned so they will do whatever it takes to reach their goals and fall in love in the process.

That was a very short summary, I know but I don’t want to spoil a lot to those who have not seen the drama. As I mentioned, I was able to see some clips of this drama so when I had time to watch it, I did skip a lot of scenes because I did know what the story was about. I am a sucker for friends turned lovers story so obviously, I loved this story because they were longtime friends before they crossed the friend zone. The flow of the story was good too, it did have the balance of focusing on other storylines so it wasn’t very boring and the comedy, romance and drama balance was good too.

Ko Dong Man & Choi Ae Ra (Park Seo Joon & Kim Ji Won) – Okay, this time I’ll put in some spoilers so I’m sorry to those who’ll be able to read it. Now, during the first parts of the drama, you’ll notice that Dong Man is very protective of Ae Ra. She doesn’t like seeing her cry and would actually kill whoever would lay his hand on her. I love them so much. He even told her that he would kill her first love because he made her cry so much, little did he know that (SPOILER) he was her first love.

Their scenes together were very sweet and very natural and I am a little shocked that they can kiss like that knowing that this drama aired on a non-cable network. When they’re together and she would sleep at his house, they would have these sweet scenes that are very cringy but at the same time very VERY very nice.

Kim Joo Man & Baek Seol Hee (Ahn Jae Hong & Song Ha Yoon) – This couple was such a roller coaster to follow and I loved how both of them grew and changed as they experienced trials and hardships. They are my ultimate couple goal.

Ko Dong Man & Hwang Jang Ho (Park Seo Joon & Kim Sung Oh) – These two are like 2 peas in a pod and they bicker like an old married couple. This coach/trainee relationship is something far from your usual relationship because they care for each other like family like how it should be. It’s just too nice to see that a coach who just trains you, really gets into your life and is happy for your little accomplishments and really does look out for you even though it means that he might quit. It really shows that they care for each other.

My thoughts: It was okay. 4.5/5 :). I don’t think there’s such a thing as a perfect drama however this drama is a really good one. I love the fact that they focused on relationships, may it be with significant other, family or friends. It’s such a fun drama to watch, the balance of drama, comedy, and romance was just right and I love that about a good drama.

I’m so sorry this took so long to publish. This was in my drafts for such a long time. A LOT has been going on with my life and it’s been a whirlwind for me and my family. Anyway, thank you so much for being patient. Happy Watching ^^v
